Pick Your Part in Santa Fe Springs is a self-service used auto parts yard operated by LKQ, one of the largest providers of recycled automotive parts in North America. Located at 13780 Imperial Hwy. in Santa Fe Springs, the yard is conveniently accessible to residents of La Mirada and surrounding communities in the greater Los Angeles area. The facility maintains a large and regularly updated inventory of salvage vehicles, giving customers the opportunity to walk the lot, locate the vehicle they need, and pull the parts themselves — a hands-on approach that keeps costs significantly lower than buying new or remanufactured components through a dealership or traditional auto parts store.
The self-service model is a major draw for budget-conscious car owners, weekend mechanics, and professional repair shops alike. Customers pay a small entry fee to access the yard, then use their own tools to remove parts directly from the vehicles on-site. This process allows shoppers to inspect a part before purchasing it, which adds a level of confidence that catalog or online ordering simply cannot replicate. Pricing at Pick Your Part is standardized and posted publicly, so there are no surprises at checkout. The yard accepts a wide range of vehicle makes and models, and the inventory turns over frequently as new vehicles are added on a regular basis.
Beyond just selling parts, Pick Your Part also offers a cash-for-cars program that allows residents to sell their unwanted, non-running, or damaged vehicles directly to the yard. This can be a practical option for La Mirada households looking to clear a driveway or dispose of a vehicle that is no longer worth repairing. The process is straightforward, with the yard handling pickup logistics and offering same-day or next-day service in many cases.
For La Mirada drivers dealing with an aging vehicle, unexpected repair costs, or a project car in need of specific components, Pick Your Part in Santa Fe Springs represents a practical, affordable resource just a short drive away. The yard is open seven days a week, making it accessible even for those who can only visit on weekends. Whether a customer needs a door panel, an alternator, a set of seats, or a hard-to-find trim piece, the sheer volume of vehicles on-site makes it worth a visit before spending more elsewhere.
⭐⭐ The process itself was fine, but the communication wasn’t. We stood in line for over 30 minutes in the heat, only to find out when it was almost our turn that the office was closing for a 45-minute lunch break. I completely understand lunch breaks happen, but a posted sign or quick heads-up would have been appreciated. Finding out after waiting that long was frustrating and felt disrespectful of people’s time.
The good: Ive gone here maybe +20 times over the past and year It doesn't smell like weed at all in the yard, so the air is a bit better compared to the Anaheim and Wilmington locations. The ground in the yard is consistently flat which i feels make it a bit more tolerable walking around. It's hella plentiful cars at this yard. There are port-o-pottys but also plenty of Mercedes sedans with tinted backseat windows to get stuff done. Sometimes see cats at the entrance. The good stops there now. The bad: a few months ago they started doing a fenced yard of cars. The problem now is cars seemingly are randomly placed into that fenced yard, and it was explained by the cashiers that those cars are inaccessible to customers to part out. On the PYP website those "inaccessible" cars on the site the same way they list the accessible cars. Ex: A car is listed to have arrived at the yard yesterday, is at Row 38, Spot 10 BUT is actually in the fenced yard. So I have had a few situations where a "new" car that I was hyped to go see and drive 30 miles one way to part out before anyone else could, only to be screwed over like that. As far as I know, the other PYPs aren't doing the fenced thing at all (Wilmington, Anaheim, Ontario). Why these guys insist on it, the cashier wouldn't explain, which was shady (yes I was polite, even waited in line to ask Cheech Marin cashier what this fencing this is for). Other than that, I feel customer service is noticeably ruder than Wilimington and Anaheim. Not surprised the cashiers now have steel bars in front of their windows. It's really only a few of the cashiers that stick out whose attitudes bring down the XP here. Also important: they struggle to maintain even ONE tire technician, so depending on which cashier you end up with, you might get to keep the tire for free (assuming you just buying the rim) because they may realize no tire tech is going to be available at time of your purchase to remove the tire. The other yards are better overall I feel, though Anaheim is hella customer competitive and Wilmington is most ghetto. It's the structure of how Santa Fe is run that brings this PYP down. The parking lot is also not fully marked so people do end up blocking each other. Don't park in the middle of any lane, its too risky.
Drove an hour to come here for a part in a vehicle that I had to come here for showed up at 2:30 on a Sunday, it says they close at 4:00 online on their website and Google maps. Guy says it's closed turning away tons of people. I don't know who owns this business but this definitely isn't good for business to be closed an hour and a half before it stated online on the weekend. Potential false advertising lawsuit.
Today I went to my local Pick A Part Santa Fe Springs, usually a very enjoyable trip, find what I need great prices, but today... I knew something was different the setup was different more Security more controlled now instead of just going, you now had a very narrow gate/tunnel after finding what I needed always do, now. I get in line 6 people ahead of me today they had two gentlemen working the cashier I was in that line for 55 yes 55 minutes in the sun while these two gentlemen were clearly not fit or just did not care talking, calling for instructions finally I make it ( I endured )I prices cannot be beat I had a carburetor cover for my jeep I bought the exact one 4 weeks priored paid 27 dollars TODAY this person who kept asking what the item was wanted to charge me 52, DOLLARS, I explained why double the price gave some stupid remark left there for the first time, with nothing but a sad feeling, Sooo... my search continues for a junkyard with fair prices
Whoever the new owners of this and other nearbypick your part yards is has completely screwed up the enter/exit from the yard. Before there was dedicated staff at the exit to check people out, and make sure they were not taking parts without paying for them. Now if you are not buying anything you have to push thru the long line waiting for the cashier just to get out the gate. This new system sucks and whoever put in in place should be fired. Go back to the way it was....it Worked and was Efficient. This new management system is horrible and clogs up the cashier lines. The managers that ran this location before were on it and running a good ship. The managers there now are inexperienced and not doing a good job. Additionally, you need More Cashiers. If there is a line of people waiting to check out, do not close Cashier windows. With all the "managers" milling about, not helping to alleviate the long Cashier line, and not opening more Cashier windows, it is evident that customer's time is not valued. There are plenty of people looking for a job, and if PYP is having problems hiring, then it's time to pay more to get employees. Seems like a BIG management problem since the new owners. They don't know what they're doing and grinding up the gears of a business I've been visiting for over 10 years. It was better how it was before.
