Ambrose Pizzeria has been a beloved fixture in La Mirada since 1985, serving up authentic Italian-style pizza rooted in a family tradition that stretches back decades. The restaurant traces its origins to Ambrosio Degrezia, who immigrated from Italy to New York in the 1960s and brought with him the recipes and techniques of his homeland. After establishing locations in New York and later throughout Southern California, the La Mirada location became a community staple that locals have returned to generation after generation.
In 1997, longtime cook Alonzo Lepe purchased the La Mirada location after a decade of working there, carrying forward the same original Italian recipes that have defined Ambrose since its earliest days. That continuity matters to regulars who have grown up eating here and to newcomers discovering it for the first time. The menu stays true to those old-world recipes, giving diners an experience that feels genuinely distinct from chain pizza or fast-casual alternatives in the area.
Located at 12739 Valley View Ave, Ambrose Pizzeria is open every day from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, making it a convenient option for weekday lunches, family dinners, and weekend meals alike. Guests can dine in at the restaurant or order online, and the kitchen handles everything from individual slices to full pies.
For those planning a larger gathering, Ambrose Pizzeria also offers private event and party booking, making it a practical choice for birthday celebrations, team events, or any occasion where a crowd needs to be fed well. Residents interested in hosting a pizza party or booking the space can reach out directly through the restaurant’s website or by calling (562) 802-7545. With its deep roots in the La Mirada community and a menu built on decades of authentic recipes, Ambrose Pizzeria remains one of the neighborhood’s most dependable dining destinations.
My combo was less than 13 bucks and it was the biggest slice I’ve ever had along with a side salad and a drink. I mean you can’t beat that price plus it’s very delicious. Service here was great very nice and friendly. Just call your order in in advance trust me.
This is what they call a meatball sandwich for $12 plus tax. Very disappointing. The bread was so hard when you bit into it. Everything fell out of the sandwich and they didn’t use whole meatballs. They cut them in half this place used to be good. I’m sorry it went downhill.
Not sure what’s going on with Ambrose but this isn’t the veggie pizza I remember. The dough is flavorless and terrible. It used to be soft with a nice crunch on the bottom, now it’s just mush. The veggie pizza used to have fresh vegetables over the melted cheese, now it just looks like a frozen pizza you’d get at a grocery store. Look at old pictures of supreme and veggie pizzas on their reviews and they don’t look anything like this. Severely disappointed, if this is the new Ambrose pizza I’ll find somewhere else.
Food is the only thing good about that place. The AC is strong people gets their with coats on. I don’t know why! I had to ask if they can lower down the air which they only did it for about 20minutes. Service is poor you have to get up and walk to the counter to ask for anything you need. Atmosphere is poor place is almost empty few times I being there. Not worth it spent $100 on a pizza, wings and a pitcher. Good thing my son had a blanket in the car.
Have been coming here since I was a kid, moved out of town and was visiting… pizza just as delicious and I remember. Great pricing still and consistent service. Buffalo Chicken medium slice is more than enough for one person. Satisfied my pregnancy craving!
